Synopsis

A young boy estranged from his father and his new classmates steals his fathers gun to school. But when showing the others the gun a school shooting breaks out. With the gun in his hand he walks through the hallways of the school, hearing the massacre unfolding. But upon seeing two dead classmates he hides in a closet. Terrified, until finally his father finds him hours later.

Tranfering Trauma

Hero was a very personal project. Based on my own experiences at Utøya in 2011.
I wanted to try translating my experiences onto the screen, and this first year film at the DFFB (Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie Berlin) became the outlet.

Shooting on 16mm film also proved difficult but satisfying, showing me a different way of working with coverage, sound and actors.
