“Let’s pretend that, it’s you and me forever”

Creating a score for You’re My Bruise was all about finding the right mix between melancholy and sensuality.
It’s a film rooted in the sexual tension between the characters, but also in the internal question if that’s all that’s keeping them together.

Intro

The film starts on a sex scene, so building the right rythm and feeling was important. The intro is the same theme as the Ending, as to create a simple book-end effect in beginning and end.

Ending

The ending continnues on the opening theme, and swells on the final goodbye / first meeting of the two main leads. The lyrics, as well as much of the film itself is based upon a personal relationship. And the feeling of being with someone you know you don’t truly love.

Lyrics

Out of tune, you and I.
Out of love, only I.

Let’s pretend that;
It’s you and me, it’s you and me forever.

Let’s pretend that;
It’s you and I.

The deep synthy bass lends itself to the velvety colors of the final image (quite “Lynchian” if you ask me). And continue into the end credits.
